Entrepreneurship101: S5 International Cooking Project
Last week, Secondary 5 students had their International Cooking Project for Entrepreneur101 under the theme: A Taste of the World. Students from classes S.5/8 and S.5/9 were given the opportunity to explore global cuisine, develop entrepreneurial skills, and engage in hands-on teamwork.
First, students were divided into groups of 5–6 and then picked countries by drawing lots. After that, each group was tasked with researching and preparing a menu of five savory dishes and five sweet dishes that represent the culinary traditions of their assigned country.
Before heading to the kitchen, students conducted a market survey with Primary 5-6 students to find out which dishes were the most appealing to them. The survey results helped each group decide which dishes to prepare for the final cooking event. To bring their menus to life, students designed colorful and creative poster menus that showed names and descriptions of each dish, prices for each item, and cultural elements and visual appeal.
The PTA and coaches evaluated the students’ food and presentation during the final cooking event. Students learned not only how to cook, but also how to think like entrepreneurs who understand customer preferences, pricing strategies, and the importance of presentation.
